Doc McIsla’s 5th Birthday

June 19, 2013 By Julia 2 Comments

Isla turned 5!
I can’t believe my
 sweet girl is 5!
For a year all she talked about was having
a Muppet birthday party
but at the last minute she changed
her mind to her
favorite cartoon
Doc McStuffins!
I was all for it because
Doc McStuffins was
a lot more fun and easier to plan!
As the guests arrived they
were greeted with a sign
that directed them to get their very own
lab coat and stethoscope!
After they grabbed their lab coat and
stethoscope they checked-in
at the check-in table and
received their
personalized doctor’s badge!

They also received
a personalized clipboard to
decorate!

After they finished decorating
their clipboard they
picked out their sick toy.
They took a checklist and headed to the
clinic to find a diagnosis!
JohnMark takes after his father
and decided to do heart surgery
on his animal!
No birthday party is complete
without party games!
(at least that’s what Isla tells me)
We played
“Pin the nose on Chilly”!
We also tried playing
a relay race with
tongue compressors and
cotton balls.
The wind made it very difficult!!!
My favorite part of every
party is the food!
We had
Band-Aide Wafers!
Cotton Ball
Marshmallows!
Kisses for Your
Boo-Boo’s!
Pretzel Thermometers!
An Apple a Day
Keeps the Doctor Away!
Purple Cake!!!!
The adults
 had yummy food
inside too!
Hotdogs were
 the main course!
“Happy Birthday
to You!”
JenJen and Roman
LOVED the cake!
The themed food was
a hit!
All the doctors had a
great time playing,
eating, and hanging out!
This picture is a perfect
 display of  how Roman
felt about the “girl” party!
Towards the end the
kids were playing doctor
on each other and daddy!
We managed to get a group
picture most of the doctors!
At the end of the party
Isla opened her gifts!
As you can see,
Nixon was just as excited
about the presents!
I tried getting a
few family photos but Lottie
was asleep.
Nixon was in a very
kissy mood!
She got lots of birthday lovin’!
We are so thankful for all
our family and new friends we
have in TX!
They really made
 the party special
for Isla!
Madalie
(and her brothers)
Lorelei
Cousin
Johnna Katherine
Lola
Allie
Nathan
Maddie
Tesia
Adara
Sofia
And many more!
As a special thank you
we had several goodies
for our guests as they left the party!
Tic Tacs
Lollipops!
Lambie Tails
(marshmallows)

As the party closed down we
were serenaded by Isla
with her new guitar!
Lottie finally decided to wake up!
(yes, that’s what happens
to her face when we let her eat cake or cupcakes)
I had so much fun celebrating Isla’s
5th birthday!!!
I could not have done it
without the help of my sis!

Field Day Fun Day!

June 5, 2013 By Julia 3 Comments

Last Friday was Nixon’s
very 1st Field Day!
Coach Weaver did
an excellent job
creating an
“Alice in Wonderland”
themed
Field Day!
Nixon LOVES
Coach Weaver!
And her teacher,
Mrs. Lukas!
She and her friends
had a blast visiting
each station and
playing the games!
I’m certain Nixon’s
favorite was Tug-O-War!
I enjoyed watching
the 3-legged Race!
More Fun and Games!
Isla didn’t enjoy
all the walking around
so she sat on a bench and
ate a snow cone most of the time!
Nixon came and joined her
for a bit.
They both got their faces
painted together!
Isla did love all the
cute decorations!
She is super excited about starting
school in the fall now!
(I think she will
be disappointed when it not
decorated like this)
Nixon had such a
great time with
her friends!
These are all her
classmates!
(minus a few)
1st Field Day was a success!

Legoland + Rainforest Cafe + Cousins = Great Day!

May 30, 2013 By Julia Leave a Comment

We had so much
fun last Thursday celebrating
cousin Reid’s 6th birthday
at Legoland and Rainforest Cafe!
Nixon was very disappointed
that she missed our last trip
to Legoland so
she was super excited to
skip school and go this time!
They started the
afternoon off with learning
how legos are made!
We then road Kingdom
Quest into Legoland
shooting all the bad guys!
The cousins loved
Legoland!
They built cars
out of legos and raced them!
Lottie just liked sitting
on the raceway!
They sang
karaoke in
Princess Palace!
Lottie just danced
to the music!
We rode the Merlin Ride!
They played in
the playground!
We visited Miniland,
the city of Dallas made out of legos!
Cowboy Stadium
SouthFork Ranch
Texas State Fair
Lottie loved exploring!
Lottie giving a lego man
kisses!
We went to
two 4D lego movies!
The kids drove police cars
in Forest Pursuit!
The little ones played in
Duplo City.
Isla obviously
breaking the rules!
Jared had a good time other
than when Lottie peed
all over him! 🙂
Lottie didn’t know what to
think about Dirk Nowitzki
made of legos!
Even baby Ivy enjoyed
Legoland!
After a full afternoon
of legos we walked over to
Rainforest Cafe to eat dinner!
Silly picture!
1st stop is always the alligator!
My kids were excited to
share their favorite restaurant
with their cousins!
Each child got a balloon
animal made while waiting
for the food!
Birthday boy Reid
got a dragon!
Roman got a dinosaur!
Nixon unsurprisingly
picked a ladybug!
Isla got a butterfly!
Ellis got a
balloon Batman!
Lottie got a baby ladybug!
We ended dinner
with a chocolate volcano
for the birthday boy!
A few photos from the evening.

Dallas Arboretum, Zoo, Cousins…. the Beginning of a Fun Filled Week!

May 24, 2013 By Julia 2 Comments

We’ve had a fun week
with Gue, Aunt Deidre,
Reid, Ellis, & Ivy!
We started the week with a picnic at
the Dallas Arboretum!
The kids didn’t care too
much about the flowers,
they just wanted to play!
They enjoyed rolling
down the hill!
Lottie tried running down the hill.
We explored a bit
of the arboretum on our way to
the frogs!
It was HOT!
So the kids played in the water most of the time!
The babies just watched!
We love the arboretum!
Nixon found the editing tools
on my computer.
She edited this picture herself
and insisted I save it!
Future model or photographer
in the making?!?!
My little monkeys!
I caught Lottie pestering Roman by
hitting him with the gatorade bottle.
He is getting some payback!
Nixon & Reid!

This is one of my favorite spots
at the arboretum.
We had a great afternoon!
The next morning we
visited the Dallas Zoo!
Reid really liked studying the
map and figuring out
where everything was!
We rode the  monorail and
saw the animals from above!
I think one of the kids
favorite things to do at the zoo is
climb on the elephants or
“Roll Tides” as Roman calls them!
Afterwards we got to see
the REAL elephants!
We sat down and had
a relaxing picnic while
 watching the elephants.
Lottie didn’t care to much about the
picnic but enjoyed walking
around and exploring.
We saw the giraffes and zebras!

The kids (or Gue) got
to feed the giraffes!
We saw cheetahs and
a BIG lion!
The kids “drove”
a safari jeep!
Isla was my little model
posing with every statue at the zoo!
We ended the day
at the children’s area.
The boys of course went
straight to the water!
Who needs a swimsuit?!?!?!
The older kids took
a ride on
a pony.
Our last stop at
the zoo is always the carousel!
Roman always picks
the gorilla to ride!
The kids loved sharing the
zoo with Gue and their cousins!
Nixon had to go to school
so she missed out on this
day but she had several more days of
a fun-filled week with her cousins!
This was only the beginning!

Princesses and Ballet….Two of our Favorite Things!

May 20, 2013 By Julia Leave a Comment

Saturday morning Isla had her

2nd ballet
recital.
She loved taking ballet
this year with her cousins,
Johnna Katherine & Julianna.
She also LOVED having
an excuse to wear makeup!
Before the recital started
a few Disney Princesses
came to meet the girls and
wish them luck!
Belle
Jasmine
Snow White
Princess Tiana
Cinderella
The girls went outside to
have a little photo-shoot
before the show!
The girls danced to
Pocahontas
“Colors of the Wind”.
They did a
 wonderful job!
Nix was so proud of her
little sister!
We were so happy
Gue was here to see Isla dance!
I love my little ballerina!
We look forward to
many more dance recitals!
